Rothman-Ranawat Hip Society Traveling Fellows
Joint Implant Surgeons and Mount Carmel New Albany Surgical Hospital are pleased to host the Rothman-Ranawat Hip Society Traveling Fellows. This fellowship program is open to four young orthopaedic surgeons, not only from North America, but also throughout the world. The traveling fellows will visit twelve sites in North America. This year's course will provide a forum for the exchange of information regarding degenerative joint disease of the hip. Local experts and the international fellows will present lectures on a variety of topics from conservative care to operative intervention. The course will conclude with a case discussion featuring current topics in hip arthroplasty.
The target audience for this event would be orthopaedic surgeons, residents, fellows, allied health professionals involved in the care and treatment of adults with early to advanced degenerative joint disease of the hip.
At the conclusion of this activity participants should be able to:
1. Discuss the diagnosis and treatment of periprosthetic hip infection.
2. Describe current treatment modalities for osteonecrosis of the femoral head.
3. Formulate management strategies for patients with metal-on-metal hip arthroplasty.
4. Explain the role of hip resurfacing.
5. Assess whether total hip arthroplasty should be performed in the morbidly obese.
6. Review the concepts of femoral revision with modular stems.
Registration is free.
